Hillside Nursery

I find myself reminiscing on the nursery that we brought our little girl home to at hillside farmhouse. It was a small, sweet room that was full of love. I told Brian that every time I walked into that room, I felt at peace. This room will always hold a special place, the first room we made just for her.

We had a simple design, highlighting naturally beautiful design elements in our old farmhouse. Brian put a lot of love into uncovering the original stone on one wall, and he decided to arch the exposed stone because he wanted it to look like a secret passageway. It turned out so beautiful, and was the first thing you saw walking into the room.

Nursery entry

uncovering the beauty in our old farmhouse.

We added a simple board and batten to the lower portion of the wall with Sandberg Ewa White wallpaper above it. I loved the beautiful simple design of this wallpaper.

We painted the walls and ceiling Sherwin Williams Extra White and the trim and doors Sherwin Williams Requisite Grey.

I was able to find our crib on Facebook Marketplace in perfect condition; I love buying second hand when I can! It is the Bratt Decor Venetian II 3-in-1 convertible crib, and it is absolutely stunning.

I brought this beautiful wood name sign from Adoren Studio; we got the 24” width and the font “sienna”. And I absolutely fell in love with this puppy mobile! I love that they are intricately hand knit, and that you can customize the number of puppies and colors. We have always had labs so this makes me happy, and I think it will make Lily happy too.

I found this beautifully refinished antique dresser, and it is perfect in every way. We coupled it with an antique gold mirror that I found on Facebook Marketplace as well. I absolutely love our Design Dua changing basket, it is so beautiful and perfectly turns our antique dresser into a changing table.

Brian and I made this cutie bunny lamp, and I love how sweet it looks in here. I went over all of the details of how we made it here.

Brian built Lily this beautiful bookcase, and I think it is so special that she knows he made it just for her. The scalloped top piece was actually from our kitchen that we demoed, and we saved for a project just like this. I just love how it turned out.

I love our closet dividers from White Loft, It helps to keep her little closet organized and easy to pick out an outfit. They are great quality, and look pretty too! I love these raw wood kids hangers because they match perfectly with rest of the wood closet pieces. Brian built these little cube shelves with a white oak wood top. They perfectly house these little stackable metal baskets for blankets and bows, and these cute pink pom pom bins. Storage is key in a nursery so I used large ratten baskets, similar to these, for the top of the closet to store extra items like extra diapers/wipes, carriers, etc.

We absolutely LOVE this rocker that we went with- it fit perfect in our small space. The Babyletto Cali Pillowback Glider in cream. It also has a performance fabric so it is very easy to clean. We spent many late night feeding sessions in this chair, and it was very comfortable, but not too big and comfortable to want to doze off. We had a small space to work with so this little rattan ottoman was a perfect size, and added another design element and texture.

and the most beautiful vintage rug from Violet Vintage Rugs finishes off the space perfectly. Kristyn helped me pick out this beautiful rug for the space, and it looks like it was handknotted just for a nursery. A rug certainly can transform your space!

the perfect gender neutral nursery with touches of pink for our little girl.
