A complete guidebook from a pediatric nurse practitioner and mama of two designed to bring more confidence and less second guessing to the first year of life. Parenthood comes with constant change and uncertainty, and I created this guidebook to combine practical pediatric guidance from what I commonly see in the office with the real-life perspective of navigating motherhood myself.
first year guidebook…
Meet the NP
Hi, I’m Kelly Hopton-Jones, MSN,PNP-PC & mama of two. I graduated from James Madison University with my bachelors of science in nursing in 2012, and completed a residency program in women's health with eventual placement on antepartum. After 3 years, I had a continued pull to transfer to pediatrics, and worked on the short stay emergency department unit as I obtained my masters.
I fell in love with pediatrics, and quickly made the decision to switch programs from the family nurse practitioner program to the pediatric primary care program. I graduated in 2017 with my masters of science in nursing, and started my career working at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I have since transitioned to a private practice after moving back to Texas, and cut back on hours since becoming a mama. I have loved practicing for the past 7 years, but I am happy to shift my focus in a way that allows me to prioritize our family and my role as mama of two now.

I’m speechless over this book! What I would have done to have this with Joss. I will be sending this to every friend having a baby, because it’s everything you wish you could tell your best friend she will experience walking into motherhood that will terrify her but doesn’t need too. This is a freaking GIFT.

You’ve spent the last 4 years answering every baby question under the sun for me and I can confidently say everything you’ve taught me is a piece of this guidebook. It’s going to be such a gift for new moms to prepare for what’s to come and for sure save their sanity a time or two.

Wow this guidebook is exactly what every parent needs. I wish I had this when I had my first two babies, but so thankful to have it for my third. I can’t tell you how many times I had a question in the first year that is covered so thoroughly in this guidebook. A MUST HAVE.

This guidebook is awesome! It is quick to read and didn’t bore me to death like some other things I’ve read when preparing for our first. I love how you also showed the substitution of products for clean ones. I give it 5 stars out of 5.
